Teen arrested for threatening to attack Sydney mosque, later granted conditional bail
Police have arrested a teenager for threatening to attack a new mosque in Sydney, Australia. He was later granted conditional bail.
Last Tuesday, a threatening comment was posted on the official Instagram page of Masjid Al-Bait Al-Islami. The comment said, “I am going to make this place Christchurch 2.0.”
In 2019, there was a terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. In this attack, 51 worshippers lost their lives. The context of this incident was mentioned in the threat.
On Tuesday, the mosque authorities reported the threat to the police. The police started a serious and rapid investigation. In connection with the threat, the police arrested a 16-year-old teenager living in the city of Perth, Western Australia, last Wednesday.
